Birds in Flight

I have always wanted to capture moments of Birds flying. I would look at the pictures in NGC of the majestic birds soaring with their wings spread wide open or of bird landing or taking off and it would not fail to enchant me.
While i am still nowhere near capturing the soaring beauties in mid-air, i hope, i got of to a start at least with the photos below. These  were taken at Ranganathittu, which arguably provides the best opportunity to capture birds for any enthusiast.

Birds of different feather flock together!

Ranganathittu

I think this picture captures Ranganathittu in a frame! Small area but occupied by unique variety of birds (and crocodiles!)
If any of you haven't visited this place, i highly recommend you do. It is just off Srirangapatnam, 120 km from Bangalore. The sanctuary is home to a large variety of birds and due to the density of the bird population, you can always find various birds flying and zipping around. The place is specially a sight to behold during the nesting season. Wasn't lucky enough to catch the season this time around. Definitely have to do a revisit in November!

Out Safe

Doesn't it feel like the bird is saving the cherry from the grasp of the branches?

Squirrel Man

Had gone to one of my fav places in bangalore. Apart from hunting the usual birds and bees, i stumbled upon a person who had very unique friends.

The uncle, pictured above, visits lalbagh as a daily routine. His daily ritual includes a walk around the park (esp the lake) and mediating sitting at the glass house. He also involves himself in one unique thing, feeding Squirrels. Everyday he sits at a particaular bench, and calls out to the squirrels. And one after the other at least half a dozen squirrels come out to feed upon the berad crumbs thrown out by him. In fact he tells me that the little creatures even sit on his lap sometimes and he feeds them the bread crumbs out of his hand!
This from one of the most shy and adorable creatures that i have ever encountered. And thanks to him i was able to get a few wonderful clicks :)

 The Namaste Pic finally!

Is that for me?!

Eye of the Eagle

Captured this when this guy was about to fly off after quenching his thirst. I just love the glint in the eyes!

Bliss!
The Lalbagh Lake plays an important part in maintaining the ecological balance at lalbagh, as the island within provides habitat to various species of birds, from ducks to flamingos to pelicans to kingfishers!

Attack!

This was in Lalbagh where a farm of ants were going about their business, but this guy was too curious about the intruder!
